Fifth Blog

I have been doing some research for gladiators. Gladiators were usually male slaves who were bought for the purpose of fighting. These men were trained killers who swore and oath to live and die by the sword. The origins of gladiators originally came from the Roam funeral service. It was believed that the sacrifice of blood was required to release the spirit of the deceased. So, when gladiator fighting was introduced to Rome, it was accompanied by the funeral of a high ranking person or was performed as part of a remembrance ceremony. The first gladiator fights were held only for a special and selective audience. By the time of the Julius Caesar , however they had a form of public entertainment and tax collecting as well as vote-winning exercises.
